Keratin Hair Treatments

Keratin Hair Treatments

Ever wonder what goes into a professional keratin treatment? How long does it last? What’s the day-to-day upkeep? How much money do you have to spend?

Here’s a quick guide:

What is keratin? Keratin is the protein that makes up your hair.

How it Works: A professional hairstylist applies a keratin straightening product to your hair and then uses the heat of a flat iron to seal it in.

How long does it take? The process usually takes about 90 minutes or longer depending on how long your hair is.

Time Saver: If you normally style your hair straight, a keratin treatment could decrease your blow dry time by 40-60%

Frizz Be Gone! You can walk out into any kind of weather and not have to worry about frizz after a keratin treatment – it’s that simple!

Wait before Washing: Definitely let between 3-4 days pass before washing your hair so the treatment can really sink in.

Upkeep: Once the 3-4 days are up, you should use a sodium-sulfate-free shampoo to help maintain the treatment

How Long Does it Last? Expect the results to last between 2 to 2 ½ months.

Cost: Anywhere from $150-$300 depending on the type of treatment and the length of your hair.

Keratin is more of a restorative treatment, it will not damage or break your hair, but the hot iron may. If the hot iron is too hot, the hair could get damaged so make sure you’re going to a professional hairstylist whom you trust.

If you have psoriasis or dermatitis, check with your dermatologist first before getting this kind of treatment.

The Benefits of Couple Massages

While couples massages are becoming more and more popular, many people still are unsure of what to expect and what exactly a spa couple massage entails. To put it simply: it involves two people experiencing massage treatments at the same time in the same room. Many spas will have a room set up specifically for this purpose, with two massage tables next to each other so wives and husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends and same sex partners can enjoy this relaxing time together.

The first benefit of a couples massage is quite obvious: it gives the couple the opportunity to relax while the therapist provides massage strokes specific to the couples’ desires.

The second benefit is the sometime surprising communication boost between partners. Many couples report being able to speak more openly and honestly with their significant other after a couples massage. It provides time for a relaxed conversation which paves the way for a wonderful union between the pair.

Many new to this experience may feel a tad uncomfortable, but again, having a partner there to provide companionship and solidarity is key.

Quick note: many couples prefer to experience a couples massage on their own without the therapist there, but the therapists are essential. This is one of the main reasons why couples cannot open up to one another. Think of the therapist as a silent mediator: let them do all the work, relaxing sore muscles, kneading pressure points, providing aromatherapy experiences while you let down your guard, ease your tensions and open up to the person on the table next to you.

Many spas offer great couples massage packages, some geared towards romance, some towards self-reflection, and some for special occasions. However you choose to experience this rare treat, it is well worth the time and money!

The Art of Endermologie®

Ever wonder what Endermologie® actually is? What do people mean when they receive an “all natural face-lift?” How does it work? Does it hurt?

Here’s what we know…

There are two different types of technology at work:

1.    Roll Technology – the two independent motorized rollers gently pull the skin using three directions of rotation.
2.    Lift Technology – With their micropulses, the lift heads create a wave of tissue that delicately stimulates the skin.

Both technologies have the capability of treating very different types of skin tissue: cellulite, adipose, edematous, fibrous, adherent, inflammatory, thin, fragile, relaxed, scarred, and wrinkled.

What is happening with these two mechanical stimulations? Just this: the stimulation occurring on the surface of the skin sends signals down through the deeper layers into the cells (ex. fat cells) to provoke a physiologic response (ex. activation of collagen and elastin production or activation of lipolysis). In other words, the two different machines are actually telling your body to break up stored fat!

This gentle pulling of the skin tissues enables a professional user to target specific areas of the face and body with a 100% natural treatment.

Here are some added bonuses:

1.    Fibroblasts – The ENDERMOLIFT treatment naturally reactivates youthful cells (fibroblasts) that produce collagen and elastin in order to redensify the skin
2.    Collagen and Elastin Fibers – Collagen provides firmness and elastin enhances flexibility, so these two techniques can naturally and gently reactivate their synthesis, even in older skin!
3.    Venous-Lymphatic Network – Treats problems associated with venal failure, “heavy leg” sensations, and water retention
4.    Fat Cells – Naturally boosts lipolysis (the release of fat cells) to remove fat cells (adipocytes)
5.    Muscles – Can mobilize targeted muscles in order to relieve tension and spasms
6.    Septa – About 90% of women are prone to cellulite, affecting the fatty layer of the hypodermis separated by parallel septa (in men, the septa are crossed). The LIPOMASSAGE technique can release imprisoned fat to smooth cellulite.

So why bother paying for costly liposuction treatments or face lifts? Use an all-natural approach and be amazed at the results!

Love Is

Love Is

Love is more than emotion. Love is more than kindness. Love is more than a simple pat on the back or a quick hug. Love is everlasting, love conquers, love is always MORE.

Most of all, love should not be honored on one day, but throughout a lifetime. It should brave bad weather and lift your soul to heights unknown.

So here’s to honoring our loved ones, our special someone’s, our guardian angels, our best friends, our heroes, our fallen comrades, our enemies, our neighbors, and most of all, each other, for all 365 days of the year.

Just think of all the good love can do:

1.   Love never passes judgment-so stop hiding from it!
2.   Love triumphs over evil-so the only weapon you need is your heart
3.   Love is euphoria, a natural high we can all get drunk on and indulge in the side effects…legally J
4.   Love takes a long time to master, we may not get it right every time, but at least we tried and that means we are making ourselves better
5.   Love tests us-so we can fail and learn from our mistakes
6.   Love comes from the most unlikeliest of places-so pay attention
7.   Love is fulfilling-so other cravings can be curbed
8.   Love is freedom-so we can break away our chains and LIVE

While a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers may seem like a great way to say “I love you,” think of a more personal touch this year (and every day for that matter). Reach out and lend a hand, give a reassuring hug, smile often, pamper someone, spend time with your family, put your cell phone/tablet away and look at what’s around you…and enjoy it!

We are sending our love to you today and every day-because you deserve it!

Much Love,
Debbie Schade
